Lightsource, Solarcentury Wrap up 5-MW Solar Plant in UK

Lightsource Renewable Energy last Friday said it had completed a 5-MW solar power plant in England's Cambridgeshire county in collaboration with Solarcentury.

The facility includes 20,000 solar panels and will produce up to 4,552MWh of electricity, enough to power more than 1,200 households a year, Lightsource estimates.

Local waste management firm AmeyCespa buys the output of the plant under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for its waste treatment plant in Waterbeach. According to Lightsource, the solar system will supply 70% of the power needs of the Mechanical Biological Treatment plant.
