    Solarcentury's Solar Park Acquired by Bluefield Solar Income Fund

    Sept. 4, 2013 - An agricultural site housing a solar park located near Hardingham, Norfolk and constructed and developed by Solarcentury has been acquired by Bluefield Solar Income Fund Limited for £17 million. For an initial period, Solarcentury will be responsible for the parks operations, and in a separate agreement will oversee the ongoing operation and maintenance of the park.

    Sept. 5, 2013 - Wirsol Solar AG and Greenpower Capital LLC, through their exclusive Japan joint venture located in Marunouchi, have announced their acquisition of the 22MWp solar power plant project being developed by Chikyu Factory Service. Wirsol will provide all financing, engineering, procurement and construction.

    SolarCity Provides Renewable Electricity to East Bridgewater, Mass.

    Sept. 5, 2013 - SolarCity is providing solar electricity directly to the town of East Bridgewater in a move that will cut energy costs for the town. SolarCity has provided the town with more than 10,000 solar panels, and the town pays SolarCity for the electricity the panels produce at a discount to its local utility rates. At 2.45 megawatts of generation capacity, East Bridgewater's project is among a large solar installations in Massachusetts. The solar panels are expected to produce more than 3 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year—enough power to supply about 350 homes. The town is expected to save as much as $2 million on energy costs over 25 years.

    Juwi Builds Two PV Plants in Romania

    Sept. 4, 2013 - The juwi group just started the construction of two PV plants in Romania. The plants are situated near the towns Satu Mare (North-West Romania) and Butimanu (approx. 50KM north-west of Bucharest). They are being built by the Italian juwi subsidiary juwi Energie Rinnovabili Srl in cooperation with the Bulgarian subsidiary juwi Solar GmbH in Sofia. At the beginning of July juwi signed an Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) contract with the Chinese investor HiSun PV as well as their partner Abacus Renewables. The two PV plants will be connected to the grid in November 2013.

    Solon Delivers 2.2MW Solar Modules for Roof-mounted System in Bucharest, Romania

    September 3, 2013 - Solon Energy is delivering around 8,800 Solon 220/16 solar modules for the construction of a large roof-mounted system in Bucharest, Romania. The 2.2MW roof-mounted system is being installed atop a logistics center managed by the client, SC Atwar & TH Services SRL. About 2.8MWh of green power will be produced annually, of which up to 15% is destined for being consumed by companies located at the logistics center.

    Power-One's Aurora Trio Inverters Used in 1.5MW Solar Parks in Lithuania

    September 2, 2013 - Power-One today announced that UAB Solar LT chose Power-One's three-phase, 1,000V DC Aurora Trio-27.6 and Aurora Trio-20.0 string inverters for a 1.5MW solar park near Oranai, Lithuania. The solar park is the first PV installation in the Southwestern Suvalkija region.

    SolarWorld Breaks Ground on 537KW Solar Carports at Four California Parks

    Sept. 3, 2013 - SolarWorld announced today that it has begun constructing solar carports totaling 537 kilowatts of power-generation capacity at four public parks in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The four carports are expected to generate a total of 17,300,000 kilowatt-hours in renewable energy, saving the Conejo Recreation and Parks District (CRPD), the local government unit that owns and operates the parks, millions of dollars over 25 years.
