Evonik and GCL Planning to Build Plants for Silicon Compounds in China
July 14, 2014 - Evonik Industries and Jiangsu Zhongneng Polysilicon Technology Development Co. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited (GCL-Poly), have signed a letter of intent to establish a joint venture for the production of fumed silica and ultra-pure silicon tetrachloride in China. Evonik will hold a 60 percent share in the joint venture. The plants, which will have an annual capacity of over 20,000 metric tons, will be built in Xuzhou (Jiangsu Province, China) and are scheduled to start-up operation in 2016. The entire project has yet to be approved by the executive bodies. -

Solar Frontier and NEW to Develop 8.1MW Solar Power Plant in UK
July 10, 2014 – Solar Frontier announced today that it will work with New Energy for the World (NEW) on an 8.1MW solar power plant in Banwell, UK. Solar Frontier will provide a complete and optimized package of electronic components, including CIS solar modules, cabling and inverters. The CIS modules used for this project are expected to deliver 9.1GWh of electricity per year. The contract was signed in Munich and construction is scheduled to start in September, 2014. -

Acciona Energía to Build 7.2MW PV Project in Chile
July 10, 2014 - ACCIONA Energía will build the first phase of the 7.2MW Pampa Camarones Solar Park as a turnkey project being developed by the electrical power company E-CL. This was revealed today in a ceremony launching the project in the city of Arica. The plant is the first stage of a photovoltaic project by the developer that will eventually total 360MW (300 nominal MW). -
