    SolarWorld Delivers 4.5MW Solar Power System for Montpellier Airport

    A 4.5MW solar power system from SolarWorld was inaugurated with a celebratory flyover by the Airbus 380 at the airport of the southern French city of Montpellier. The solar installation at an airport in France was installed on carports over 1,800 parking spaces. In the future, 16,000 SolarWorld solar power modules (SW Sunmodule plus 280 mono) will generate about 6.2 million kWh of clean electricity per year. In addition, electric cars can recharge using the power of the sun at two solar vehicle charging stations.

    Duke Energy Launches 5MW Solar Facility in Florida

    Duke Energy joined with Walt Disney World Resort and Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) to develop the 5MW solar facility located on 22 acres near Epcot. The facility is made of 48,000 solar panels and is operated by Duke Energy, which will sell the alternative energy to RCID to help meet the power needs of Walt Disney World Resort and its other customers.

    Hanwha Q CELLS and 1366 Technologies Enter into 5-year Supply Agreement

    Hanwha Q CELLS Co., Ltd. and 1366 Technologies Inc. today announced that they have entered into a supply agreement in which 1366 will supply up to 700MW of wafers using 1366's Direct Wafer™ technology to Hanwha Q CELLS over a 5-year period. This deal follows a year-long strategic partnership and collaborative R&D efforts to commercialize 1366's Direct Wafer™ technology with Hanwha Q CELLS' Q.ANTUM cell technology. 1366 will supply the wafers from its planned US manufacturing facility in New York State, scheduled to be online in 2017.

    SolarWorld Supplies 17.5MW for Desert Project in USA

    SolarWorld has landed another megawatt project in the United States. SolarWorld Americas will be supplying 17.5MW worth of solar power modules for a plant in the Mojave Desert west of Las Vegas. The plant will use the 340W modules produced by SolarWorld in Hillsboro, Oregon. The installation of the over 51,000 modules will be performed by Bombard Renewable Energy. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this summer.

    Yingli Signs Panel Supply Agreement for PV Projects in the Dominican Republic

    Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Ltd. today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Yingli Europe has entered into an exclusivity agreement with an European EPC Partner to supply solar panels to PV projects that are expected to be developed and constructed in the Dominican Republic. According to the exclusivity agreement, Yingli Europe expects to supply up to 200MW of solar panels to the Partner. The exclusivity period will run until mid-2019, during which the commercial terms are also fixed by the agreement. To date, 50MW of projects are at the advanced stage with anticipated construction during 2017 and the balance of 150MW is at the preliminary stages of the development.

    SMA Solar Technology Acquires a 27% Stake in Tigo Energy

    SMA Solar Technology AG is acquiring a 27% stake in Tigo Energy, Inc. in the context of a capital increase. SMA is also obtaining exclusive rights for worldwide sales of the smart module technology TS4 Retrofit. The strategic partnership with Tigo Energy gives SMA access to the fast growing market of module-level power electronics (MLPE) with an annual market volume estimated at approximately EUR 700 million. In addition, SMA will deploy the new solution for expanding its data-based business models.

    Meyer Burger Receives Equipment Order from JA Solar

    Meyer Burger Technology Ltd today announced that it has received an important contract from JA Solar for its diamond wire based silicon wafer cutting technologies and industrially proven upgrade technologies for the manufacture of solar cells. The contract includes the delivery, installation and commissioning of the MAiA 2.1 system platform with the mass production scalable MB PERC technology and SiNA cell coating equipment as well as the DW288 diamond wire cutting technology for the production of its mono-crystalline silicon solar wafers.
