Martifer Solar has signed a strategic agreement to build a large scale photovoltaic project in Chile with Ingenostrum.

The project will be located in Sierra Gorda, in the Chilean region of Antofagasta, covering an area of 531 hectares.

Ingenostrum will be in charge of engineering, project management and quality control, whilst Martifer Solar will be responsible for supplying equipment, construction works, maintenance and monitoring.

The engineering and construction of this photovoltaic project will make use of technology appropriate for extremely adverse weather and environmental conditions. The companies' experience in similar projects worldwide is the guarantee of the project’s success and the best operating conditions.

"With this agreement, Martifer Solar is reaffirming its strong commitment to photovoltaic projects in Chile and Latin America. We are acting as a strategic partner for development, construction and maintenance of photovoltaic projects, and we are increasingly standing out as a global player in the solar power sector," said Alberto Rabanal, Regional Manager for Latin America and Board Member of Martifer Solar.

Chile has a real lack of electricity in the north region and energy costs are known to be high, which makes solar energy a competitive choice in the country, where 2,800MW of opportunities have been identified in this sector.
