Sonnedix has reached commercial operation date (COD) on two solar photovoltaic plants from its portfolio in Chile, adding a total of 6MW to its operating capacity in the country.

Sonnedix Malinke and Crucero, of 3MW of capacity each, were built by CAF Turnkey & Engineering as EPC contractor. They are both ground-mounted solar PV plants with bi-facial solar panels, located in the Metropolitan Region and the O'Higgins Region respectively.

Together, both plants will produce approximately 12,801 MWh of clean electricity anually, capable of powering more than 6,000 Chilean homes, and avoiding the emission of around 5,296 tons of CO2 per year.

Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix, said: "we are committed to continuous sustainable growth in Chile, where we recently inaugurated our largest plant to date 170MW Sonnedix Atacama. Adding another two solar PV plants to our portfolio is testament of our focus to expand the use of solar across the country, helping Chile reach its renewable power goals".

Sonnedix is present in Chile since 2015 and currently has 15 operating solar PV plants with a total capacity of 235MW, plus a development pipeline of more than 170MW.
