Origis Energy announced a large-scale virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Royal DSM for renewable electricity from the new Rockhound Solar C project. Once constructed, the 61 MW solar facility will be located in Ector County, TX. Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from the solar farm will support DSM's RE100 goals.

As a member of the RE100 initiative, DSM has a goal to source 100% renewable electricity for its global operations. Led by The Climate Group in partnership with CDP, RE100 brings together the world's most influential companies committed to 100% renewable power.

"This is the large step forward, representing approximately 40% of our total purchased electricity volume in the USA. A significant deal for DSM, in our journey to our commitment of sourcing 75% of our global electricity demand from renewable resources by 2030. We are excited to continue this journey with this Origis partnership, accelerating the transformation to renewable energy. This is another example of how we actively look for collaborations to reduce GHG emissions and reach a low-carbon world for all." – Harry Coorens, Vice President DSM Procurement Sustainability comments.

Rockhound Solar C was developed, financed and will be constructed by Origis Energy. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2022. Once completed the project will yield approximately 160,000 MWh of electricity each year.

Johan Vanhee, Chief Commercial Officer & Chief Procurement Officer for Origis Energy, said, "Our team is very pleased to work with DSM in the fulfillment of their RE100 goals. Providing clean energy solutions for the world's leading companies, including those who have made these important 100% renewable energy commitments, inspires us every day. We thank the DSM team and the professionals at CustomerFirst Renewables for the opportunity to collaborate with them."

CustomerFirst Renewables (CFR),  assisted DSM throughout its renewable energy procurement process. "CFR is thrilled to have supported DSM and Origis in bringing more renewable energy to the grid," said CEO Gary Farha. "We hope this innovative deal inspires other C&I customers to join the fight against climate change by transitioning to renewables."
