Philadelphia Solar Achieves Commercial Operation for 23MW Solar Project in MENA Region

Philadelphia Solar achieved the Commercial Operation Date for Al Badiya second phase expansion project which combined with energy storage system in the MENA region. 

Al Badiya second phase includes an expansion of 11MW, this expansion consists of approximately 34,320 of (320W each) & Tracking system which is locally made by Philadelphia Solar, and a 12.6MWh Lithium Ion energy storage system, the total size of the storage power plant combined with the first phase is 23MW, the new power plant's purpose is to enhance the grid by power peak shaving and power shifting to increase the stability of the grid and support the grid at peak load hours, additionally it will also enhance the availability of energy during the daytime hours.

The COD ceremony was held today at al Badiya power station in Al Mafraq, Jordan, in the presence of EMRC Chief Commissioner Eng. Farouq Hiyari, IDECO's General Manager Eng. Ahmad Thainat, Chairman of Philadelphia Solar Mr. Abd Al Rahman Shehadeh and a number of the sector leaders.
